The Norris’ Honor the 10th Infantry Regiment

David, Hannah, Molly, Dan and Judy Norris visited the flag storage unit at the State Historical Center in Lansing on July 11, 2024.  The Norris’ are direct descendants of Talmon C. Owen, who fought with the Tenth Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Owen enlisted in Company F on January 23, 1862, at Almont, Michigan at the age of 20 and was wounded at the battle of Peach Tree Creek, Georgia on July 20, 1864, as a part of Union General William T. Sherman’s march to the sea.

He made his post-war home in Genesee County, where David still resides. The Norris family are posing in front of one the original flags of the Tenth Michigan, while holding a reproduction of the same flag, that David had specially made.  Save the Flags would like to thank the families of men, like Talmon Owen for his and their great sacrifice.
