Michigan’s GAR Memorial Hall & Museum

Save The Flags was proud to be invited on August 20th to address a wonderful group of attendees at Michigan’s GAR Memorial Hall and Museum in beautiful downtown Eaton Rapids, Michigan.

The Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Hall and Museum is an incredible institution and is “the only museum in Michigan dedicated to the sacrifices of the Boys in Blue and the legacy of the Grand Army of the Republic.” The museum is housed in an original GAR Hall (1886) where the Civil War veterans of the James B. Brainerd Post 111 GAR gathered for camaraderie and companionship.  If you have not taken the opportunity to visit, please plan your trip soon, you will not be disappointed, and the GAR is VERY accommodating to its visitors, often making special arrangements to be open for tours at special request.

Save the Flags would like to extend our gratitude to Board President Chris Allen (pictured in photo with Director VanAcker) and the GAR Memorial Hall, for their kindness and support of Save the Flags and the great work they do in preserving this important history. Pictured in the other photograph is Mr. Nikolas Rowland, museum volunteer and passionate, young historian, along with STF Director VanAcker.
