The Fellowship Lodge #236 F&AM of Flint, Michigan and the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation adopted a flag of the Tenth Michigan Infantry Regiment that was carried during the Civil War. The $2,000 donation will go towards the care and conservation of the Michigan Capitol battle flag collection. The ceremony included a wonderful pizza party, check presentation ceremony and book signings by Director VanAcker and Mr. Randy Fulton, Stories from the Frontline: Sherman’s March to the Sea: Inspired by the Civil War Journal of Private Levi C. Clark and the Men of the 10th Regiment Michigan Infantry https://bookscouter.com/author/fulton-randy
The evening concluded with a concert by the talented artist and Flint native Dan Hall. https://www.danhall.com/2018dhhome.html
This adoption marked the fourth time that Lodge #236 and the Masons of Michigan have stepped forward to help the state care for these incredible artifacts. Many Michigan soldiers and numerous officers who fought in the Civil War and later wars were very active and proud members of Masonic Lodges of Michigan, so this support is very appropriate and very appreciated. Save The Flags would like to acknowledge the support of the Masons and especially acknowledge the hard work of Lodge member David Norris for coordinating and inspiring these adoptions and donations.
