In Memory of David Difatta

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of David Difatta, who was a husband, father, grand-father, historian, teacher, veteran, spiritual inspiration, reenactor, Civil War aficionado, supporter of Save The Flags, and most importantly a friend to all who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him. Mr. Difatta passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 1, 2024, after a short illness. One of David’s last Civil War events was the August 17, 2024, Capitol Battle Flag commemoration where he proudly carried the replica colors of the 18th Michigan Infantry Regiment. Shortly before his untimely death he and his family also adopted a flag of the 19th Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment. His Executive Tribute honoring the adoption stated in part “The legacy of a life well lived is the lasting memories and impressions we make upon others. Mr. Difatta is to be congratulated and lauded for the incredible lifetime of love he has shared and the lasting legacy of respect for history that he has instilled in his family and those whose lives he has so deeply touched.”

Photographs are of David and his family at the August 17, 2024, Capitol Battle Flag event.
