Description:
This regimental flag is made of a red piece of silk embroidered with the coat of arms of the United States. Below the coat of arms is a ribbon bearing the regimental designation. It reads “119TH 1ST MICH. FIELD ARTILLERY”. There are faded bands from the upper hoist edge to the fly edge where the flag was exposed to light in the Capitol cases. A gold-colored fringe is attached to the top, bottom, and fly edge of the flag. The hoist end was fashioned into a sleeve for attachment to the staff.
The staff, which measures 88.5” by 1.25” is topped by a spade-shaped finial. A rounded cap is attached to the bottom of the staff. Six metal bands on the staff list the battle honors of the regiment. They read, in order “TOUL SECTOR, FRANCE. June 8th – 23rd 1918” “CENTER SECTOR HAUTE ALSACE, FRANCE. June 25th to July 22, 1918” “AINSE-MARNE OFFENSIVE, FRANCE. August 1-6, 1918” “FISMES SECTOR, FRANCE. August 7-25, 1918” “OISE-AINSE OFFENSIVE, FRANCE. August 28th to Sept. 6, 1918” “MEUSE-ARGONE, FRANCE. September 26th to November 8th 1918”.
The flag has a 131” red and gold twisted cord with one tassel measuring 1.5” in diameter. There are also ribbons bearing the battle honors of the regiment and the French Croix de Guerre on a ribbon.

Description:
This 48-star silk national flag has embroidered stars arranged in six rows of eight. There is a small faded diagonal band in the canton from the upper hoist end from where the flag was exposed to the light as it was displayed in cases in the Capitol. A gold-colored fringe is attached to the top, bottom, and fly edge. The hoist end was fashioned into a sleeve for attachment to the staff.
The staff, which measures 88.5” by 1.25”, is topped by a spade-shaped finial. A rounded cap is attached to the bottom of the staff.
No tassels or cords remain.
