Description:
This silk regimental flag is very fragmentary with only about a third of the flag remaining. The coat of arms of the state of Michigan was painted on the center of the flag with two arcing rows of stars above. Only twenty-seven of the original stars remain. Above the stars are painted, “Presented by the citizens of —”. A gold-colored fringe is attached on the top of the flag. The hoist end was fashioned into a sleeve for attachment to the staff.
The staff, which measures 94.75” by 1.25” and is topped with a spherical finial. The staffs of flags returned to the state at the 1866 Detroit ceremony marking the end of the war all bear identical brass plaques. The brass plaque reads in Spencerian script “13th Mich. Infantry”.
The flag has a 120” blue and white twisted silk cord with two blue and white tassels measuring 2”. The tassels were formed over a wooden core.
The flag was netted (sewn between layers of dyed net) in the 1960s in an early attempt at conservation.

Description:
This silk regimental flag is very fragmentary. Most of the canton and half of the fly edge of the flag is missing. This flag is made of one piece of silk with the regimental designation painted on the obverse and the battle honors on the reverse. No matter what side of the flag is viewed, some of the writing appears backwards. The regimental designation was painted on the obverse of the fourth red stripe. What remains reads “13TH”. The battle honors on the reverse are very difficult to read with the exception “STONE RIVER.” on the fifth white stripe and “CHATTANOOGA.” on the sixth white stripe.
The staff, which measures 86.25” by 1.5”, is topped by a spear shaped finial. The staffs of flags returned to the state at the 1866 Detroit ceremony marking the end of the war all bear identical brass plaques. The brass plaque reads in Spencerian script “13th Mich. Infantry”.
The flag has a 121” blue and white twisted silk cord with two blue and white tassels measuring 1.25”. The tassels are formed over a wooden core.

Description:
Almost nothing remains of this silk national flag. There are a few shreds of fabric on the pole sleeve, a few painted letters, and a small amount of silk. Letters that remain are “TH” “C” “S” “C” “H” “I” AND “L”. A small amount of fringe is attached on the top and bottom of the flag.
The staff, which measures 96.25” by 1.25”, lacks a finial. The staffs of flags returned to the state at the 1866 Detroit ceremony marking the end of the war all bear identical brass plaques. The brass plaque reads in Spencerian script “13th Mich. Infantry”.
The flag has a 114” blue and white twisted silk cord and two tassels measuring 1.75”. The tassels have started to unravel at the top.
The flag was netted (sewn between layers of dyed net) in the 1960s in an early attempt at conservation.

Description:
Almost nothing remains of this silk regimental flag except for a scrap of blue silk, a small strip of linen that would have been on the hoist end of the flag for stabilization, and a small amount of fringe.
The staff, which measures 86.25” by 1.5”, is topped by a spear shaped finial. The staffs of flags returned to the state at the 1866 Detroit ceremony marking the end of the war all bear identical brass plaques. The brass plaque reads in Spencerian script “13th Mich. Infantry”.
